BEHIND THE SCENES

Ailsa Foulke of The Truista

Ailsa Foulke

Freedom and love are my two favorite words. I am inspired by any story that illustrates these principles, as well as provides a healthy dose of empowerment. Sharing strong stories can transform lives and help others along their paths. I relentlessly pursue wisdom that in turn can be used practically and simply and I learn much of it from other’s experiences.

I like to keep things light yet valuable. Humor is my go to! Independence for all is my cry!

Emily Lynn

I’m a believer in trusting your gut, following your instincts and listening to that still small part of your heart that pitter-patters when you are living out your true gifting. I’m on a mission to live by what is true and share in this joyful journey with others.

I love hearing people’s life stories: where have they been, how did they get here and what did they learn along the way? Give me a karaoke microphone or a dance floor and I’ll give you a show! My personal mantra is: dream big, love bigger and believe biggest.

Welcome to the Truista

OUR MISSION

We believe in using the power of experience to inspire, nourish, heal, and empower people to live their best lives.

Who Would You Be Without Your Story?: Dialogues with Byron Katie

by Byron Katie

“This book is a collection of 15 dialogues that occurred throughout the United States and Europe with Byron Katie. Some of the people who worked with Katie have painful illnesses, others are lovelorn or in messy divorces. Some are simply irritated with a co-worker or worried about money. What they all have in common is a willingness to question, with Katie’s help, the painful thoughts that are the true cause of their suffering. In every case we see how Katie’s acute mind and fierce kindness helps each person dismantle for themselves what is felt to be unshakable reality.Although these dialogues make fascinating reading—some are both hilarious and deeply moving at once—they are intended primarily as teaching tools.”

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

“Find happiness by embracing your perfectly imperfect self.

This inspiring journal is designed to help you find your way in a world where comparison and judgement can make it hard to stay true to yourself. Because when you embrace your insecurities, differences, and everything that makes you unique, you’ll realise that the only person you need to be is your strong, special, perfectly imperfect self.”

Untamed – Glennon Doyle

I received so many recommendations to read Untamed by Glennon Doyle that I had to move it to top of my summer reading list. While, skimming through the book I landed on this quote from the book, it said “Only Love Out. No Fear In. No Fear Out. Only Love In. Only Love Out”.

I immediately needed elaboration – what did that quote exactly mean?

I went to the beginning of the chapter and this is what I learned: “It’s not the cruel criticism from folks who hate us that scares us away from our Knowing; it’s the quiet concern of those who love us”

Other peoples’ fear started pulling me away from my Knowing; causing me to lose my peace.

How do I get my Knowing back? Glennon Doyle went on to explain: You have to decide who you trust more someone you love or yourself? That answer seems like a no-brainer; ME! However, it was about Knowing the right question to ask myself to get me to that correct answer.

It is something I so needed to hear. As a woman, who has been making great decisions for me, for quite a while now, I still was constantly being questioned about my life decisions by people I trusted and loved the most. Let me tell you that will mess with you! But not anymore!

This book helped me reclaim my KNOWING! My TRUTH!

The Untethered Soul – Michael Singer

The Journey Beyond Yourself

The Untethered Soul is one of the first books I read when I started waking up to myself and my true nature. You may remember from my May Musings post, I mentioned I read The Path to Love by Deepak Chopra, which then brought me to a weekend retreat in CA. On the plane out to the  Chopra center I read The Untethered Soul. It was a real eye-opener! I started to understand that the pesky voice inside my head that liked to put me down, keep me in place, and generally bum me out, could be silenced! That voice could be understood and cared for but also disregarded. It’s been several years and lots of work since I finished The Untethered Soul; and finally, that voice is gone. It doesn’t even make an appearance occasionally! It has been replaced with encouragement, love, and kindness. I thank Michael Singer for being a part of my journey and contributing to the freedom I so desire. I hope you all will indulge yourself and make this a summer read.
With love always,
Ailsa
